Honda Elevate: A New Midsize SUV Makes Grand Global Debut in India
Honda has unveiled its new midsize SUV, the Elevate, in India. The SUV will be available for booking in India starting in August 2023, and will also be exported to other markets.
The Elevate is powered by a Honda City's four-cylinder 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces the same 121 hp of power and 145 Nm of torque. The engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission and will be offered as a front-wheel drive.
The Elevate is equipped with a variety of safety features, including Honda Sensing, which includes a suite of driver-assist technologies such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking.
The Elevate is expected to be available in four trim levels: S, SV, V and VX. The S trim is expected to start at ₹12 lakhs (ex-showroom), while the top-end VX trim is expected to go up to ₹17 lakhs (ex-showroom).
The Honda Elevate will compete with other midsize SUVs in India, such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Volkswagen Taigun.
The Honda Elevate is similar in size to the Hyundai Creta. It is slightly longer and taller, but has the same width and wheelbase. The Elevate also has a larger boot space than the Creta, at 458 litres compared to the Creta's 433 litres.
The Elevate's 220mm of ground clearance is also segment-leading. This means that it is better suited for off-road driving than most of its competitors.
Here is a table comparing the dimensions and specifications of the Honda Elevate and the Hyundai Creta:
Overall, the Honda Elevate is a well-sized and well-specced SUV that offers a good balance of comfort, practicality, and off-road ability. It is a good option for those looking for a stylish and capable SUV that can handle both city driving and off-road adventures.
